"Padaung Mother and Child"

Properly known as Kayans, the "Padaungs" live in and around Kayah State in Burma, though this photo was actually taken in a refugee village across the border in Thailand. The brass rings are traditionally a sign of wealth, and restricted to girls born on a Wednesday.
