To David,

I am replying to your query for a lost person, which I saw on the Britain-Burma Society's Lost Relatives web page (http://shwepla.net/Misspers.mv). You said:

I am trying to find information on the names of ships that ferried refugees from Rangoon to Calcutta in 1941 prior to the Japanese invasion, possibly May or June 1941. It had to be after Easter 1941 as I have a photograph of my family visiting relatives in Maymyo for Easter of that year.

I am particularly looking for a ship that carried the Cornelius

family, Cecil, teacher, Maisie, nurse, and infants, John, 3yrs and David [me], 18 months.

I have tried the British Library and war libraries as well as India

and Burma groups without much success. I was hoping that there would have been some official list of

pre-invasion evacuees. As the last but one of the Burma-born of my family I still live in hopes of finding this information.

Thank you.

David Cornelius

Maybe I can help a bit.
