To Michelle Schaller,

I am replying to your query for a lost person, which I saw on the Britain-Burma Society's Lost Relatives web page (http://shwepla.net/Misspers.mv). You said:

I'm trying to find information on my gr grandfather William Griffith Williams. He was a civilian contractor working in Burma in the 1920's

He was born in Warrnambool, Victoria, Australia in 1866. The last record I have was a mention of him on his brother Gilberts death notice in Melbourne in 1921, stating Griff(in Burma).

He does appear on the Western Australia electoral roll in the late 20's but he apparently went back and forth.

One of his children (Joan) from his defacto union with Christina Cain Geddes Hastie, was born in Burma c.1918

Any information on Griff would be greatly appreciated. He disappeared in the 1920's and was apparently still alive in 1936 (as he was mentioned in his mothers will).

I would really love to know what happened to him, or anything about his life whilst in Burma

Many Thanks

Maybe I can help a bit.
