To Christine Demello,

I am replying to your query for a lost person, which I saw on the Britain-Burma Society's Lost Relatives web page (http://shwepla.net/Misspers.mv). You said:

My great grandfather John James Demello came to India from Burma. One of his sons, Ralph Demello returned to Burma and died on 4.2.1951 in Rangoon. I am trying to trace my ancestors and their nationality and any relatives who may still be in Burma.

One Mr. Demello who was a Clerk,Superintendent of Marine came on the ship Tenasserim from Rangoon to Calcutta, India in October 1853. Another Demello came to India on the same ship on 28.11.1855. I don't know if this was my grandfather or one of his brothers, Alexander and Anthony. Please help with any information. Thanks.

Maybe I can help a bit.
