To Paul Whitehead,

I am replying to your query for a lost person, which I saw on the Britain-Burma Society's Lost Relatives web page (http://shwepla.net/Misspers.mv). You said:

My grandmother escaped on the last boat out of Rangoon prior to the Japanese invasion in 1942.

Her father's name was Thomas Archibald Bay; his wife was Theresa Brigid Ann (nee Daly) and their son was Eugene Bay. All were residents of Rangoon/Maymyo.

While my grandmother retained contact with her two eldest brothers who were in the services, she lost contact with her younger brother, parents and grandparents. While I am under no illusions that they might have escaped, it would close a chapter if I could find out exactly what befell them.

Maybe I can help a bit.
