To Ann,

I am replying to your query for a lost person, which I saw on the Britain-Burma Society's Lost Relatives web page (http://shwepla.net/Misspers.mv). You said:

Hi

This is Ann, giving this mail on behalf of my mother Jemima. We are searching for my mom’s long lost Cousins [both grandfather and grandmother side] settled in Burma or Singapore or Malaysia. We all live in India [Tamil speaking Christians] now. My mom is the 6th in her family of totally 8 siblings, all 6 including mom were born in Burma [Rangoon]. All my uncles studied in St.Antony`s boys school, Rangoon and the girls studied in St.Joseph`s girls school, Rangoon.

They all left Rangoon during world war II [@1942] and settled in India for good. But my Grandpa G. Jacob went back to continue his work for British Steam Navigation [Freight Dep] and came back to India by @1955, and settled down here for the rest of his life . But made frequent trips to Burma, Malaysia and Singapore for Gospel [Singing] work, he had visited quite a few places in these countries [we even have snaps of his gospel work in Malaya - not sure if it is S`pore or M`sia ,dated Sept 1956].During his visits, he visited his siblings` family and also my grandma’s relatives.

We are looking for relatives from both sides [my Grandpa and Grandma].Let me first put my Grandpa’s side…

He had 2 brothers [Devasahayam, elder and Devanayagam] and 2 sisters of which one sister[Ruth @ Nagammal] married a Malaysian or Singaporean [name not known] and had 2 sons [Solomon and Isaac ],don’t know if they had daughters. Their last visit to India was @ 1956.The boys were then aged between 15 and 20. Devasahayam [he is said to have lived near Lake Irrawady ?] had 3 sons and 1 daughter all we believe live now either in Burma or Andaman Isles [names not known].Of which one son named Gnanaprakasam was working as a pastor in a church in Andaman’s.

Grandma’s side…

She [ Rajamony Mary ] had 8 siblings all together [3 brothers and 5 sisters] of which one brother named James Nayagam married [his sister, Manonmony`s daughter itself ],named Mary Sundari .He was working for Alexandra brick works, Pasir Panjang Road, Singapore. Though he came back to India and died , his family still lives there in S`pore, they had 4 children [?].And all 4 siblings of Mary Sundari also live in S`pore, we suppose?.

It is a long lost contact, that we would like to renew .Any information would be greatly appreciated.

With much thanks

Ann

Maybe I can help a bit.
