To Yvette James-Gordon,

I am replying to your query for a lost person, which I saw on the Britain-Burma Society's Lost Relatives web page (http://shwepla.net/Misspers.mv). You said:

Hi there,

I'm not sure if anyone can help me or not. I'm trying to trace my grandfather's side of the family. He studied Civil Engineering @ Rangoon University in late 1920s,possibly early 1930s. His name was Bernard Walter James & his date of birth was 21/10/1909. I'm trying to put together a family tree, but I'm finding it hard as he was Indian, but his family lived in Burma. After studying at Rangoon, he then came to Edinburgh in UK then lived in Bournemouth in UK.

I believe, his father was called Michael James (my great grandfather)and he was a medical doctor in Burma. The family lived in Maymyo and he had many brothers & sisters who were all educated at university. If anyone has any records of him (or family) or addresses, I'd be grateful? He often mentioned a place called Grey Cottage in Maymyo. Thank you for any assistance.

Regards Yvette James-Gordon

(grand-daughter)

Maybe I can help a bit.
